If you intentionally broke or skipped your fast without a valid reason, you are required to fast for 60 consecutive days for each day missed during the month of Ramadan!
If you have missed a fast in a previous Ramadan for a a valid reason (such as illness, travel, or pregnancy), you are required to make up for the missed fasts. This can be done by fasting on a later date, or if you are unable to do so, by donating Fidya for each day missed.
Fidya or Kaffarah is paid to provide nutritious meals to those in need during this holy month.
